Position Description

Applicants are invited to apply for the above vacancy within the Group Marine Department of Peel Ports Group, based at the Port of Liverpool. This role will require occasional travel.

Role Purpose: To assist the Group Marine Services Manager in delivery of specific marine service functions and projects as a centralised support service for individual Port Marine Departments, and in support of the Group Marine Strategic Plan.

This role will include the following responsibilities:

-Marine Safety internal audit management, assist ports with enhancement close-out, and conduct audits
-Aids to Navigation defects, campaign planning, contractor management, and General Lighthouse Authority reporting
-Govern the Group Marine Training Matrix, facilitating the Training Working Group and lead training initiatives
-Coordinate the Marine Services Protocol supporting resource management and delivery of Group services
-Assist GMSM with internal and external marine stakeholder engagement
-Management of PMSC Designated Person services
-Management of the Group Oil Spill response contract, costs/budgeting and supporting spill claims
-Responsible for and/or support of various Group Marine projects such as:
o Group Emergency Plan
o Aids to Navigation data management
o Group Risk Management/incident platform
-Other duties and projects as they develop

Required Experience

Applicants interested in this role should ideally possess the following skills and experience:

-2 A-Levels or equivalent qualifications is essential and educated to degree level is desirable
-Experience in UK marine or vessel operations management and projects
-Knowledge of international maritime regulations and those relating to port marine operations including the Port Marine Safety Code is desirable
-Seagoing experience at Officer level, Merchant Navy or Royal Navy or within a Harbour Authority as Assistant Harbour Master or similar is desirable
-Proven ability to handle and prioritise multiple tasks, projects and change in a fast moving environment
-Strong project delivery experience with exposure to contracts, costing, procurement and tendering
-Strong and articulate communicator, written and verbal. Able to present confidently to a wide-ranging audience. Strong IT skills, e.g. MS Word, Excel, Project, Powerpoint, Sharepoint
-Able to analyse technical information and make strategic recommendations
-Ability to travel UK wide approximately twice per month, with occasional overnight stays
-Full, valid Driving Licence
