Position Description

Applicants are invited to apply for the above vacancy within the Greenock and KGV Maintenance Department, based within the Clydeport cluster.

Role Purpose: To undertake the Electrical Modern Apprenticeship Programme progressing to full Electrician status upon completion. To work within a team to carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive maintenance efficiently, effectively and in a safe manner.

This role will include the following responsibilities:

-Assist in carrying out hands-on maintenance work on mechanical and electrical plant, machinery and equipment
-Complete planned and reactive maintenance work in an effective and safe manner
-Operate plant and machinery as required
-Work to Peel Safe System of Work for all activities when on site
-Deliver a safe personal working culture
-Demonstrate commitment to multi-skilled activity where appropriate
-Completed the workload as stipulated by the Electrical Team Leader
-Attend to unplanned failures in a timely manner to meet reliability targets
-Complete job cards and input data on the Q4 computerised maintenance system to identify work activity and delays
-Report parts and materials deficits to the Electrical Team Leader & Planner without delay
-Undertake SVQ Level 2 and 3 qualifications and an HNC/HND at college on a day release basis during the Apprenticeship
-Keeps records of all training/education/skills progress
-Build relationships with internal stakeholders

Required Experience

Applicants interested in this role should ideally possess the following skills and experience:

-A minimum of 5 GCSE/O Level standard or equivalent at grade ‘C’ or above
-Must be willing to multi-skill in electrical and mechanical engineering
-A full, valid driving licence is essential
-Ability to work at heights
-Demonstrate commitment to maintaining Peel Health and Safety standards 365
-Be assertive and demonstrate a willingness to progress
-Understand permit to work systems and accident reporting
